Information about Dalmatian Dogs.

The Dalmatian is a breed of dog associated with the Dalmatia region of Croatia, although its true origins are a matter of speculation. It is a member of the Utility Group of dogs, popularized by numerous books and films. One of the most distinctive breeds of dog because of its white coat spotted with black or liver spots, the Dalmatian was originally developed as a carriage dog.

Dalmatian puppies are an absolute delight, resembling more a child's toy than a dog. They also make excellent family pets as adult dogs. Medium to large sized and energetic in the extreme, they are the ideal dog for those with energy to match. Dalmatians crave the company of people. To that end they make the ideal family pet or companian dog, but plenty of exercise is imperative to keep the Dalmatian in good health.

Before purchasing a Dalmatian puppy it is imperative to consult a reputable and specialist Dalmatian breeder. All Dalmatian puppies look cute, but the breed has suffered over the years because of its popularity. This encouraged non-specialist breeders to produce Dalmatian puppies without sufficient care being given to ensuring the quality of these delightful and excellent dogs.

With its short coat, grooming requirements for Dalmatians are low. Health problems do exist within the breed, but providing you chose a Dalmatian puppy from a reputable breeder, you are your Dalmatian dog should share a long and happy life together.
